Apologies for dinner meetings by 12.00 Noon day of meeting

In President Murray’s absence, Des Friedrich chaired the meeting.
David Brownson gave his opening thoughts, reflecting on the changes and challenges in the world.
Three minute speaker was Gaylene who talked about her experiences with Community Patrol and the role they play in helping both police and public.

David gave an update on the Walk of Memories and the new donator cards he has created. Though Destination Kawaroa is now complete, the Walk of Memories is a continuing growing part and we must publicise and build on it as such.

Sally introduced our two young Guest Speakers,Luna Somers and Khaleesi Lowe both from Marfell School, who had recently been sponsored by the Club to take part in the Young Leaders Conference in Hamilton.

We were all extremely impressed by the girls’ confidence and eloquence as they described their experiences. It was obvious that not only had they enjoyed taking part but also learned a great deal - from both the more formal parts of the Conference and also from meeting and getting to know fellow attendees from different backgrounds and varied situations. As Jan Dempsey said as she thanked them, it is great for us as a Club to get feedback from the students we sponsor.
Parting thought came from Simon:
In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing. (Theodore Roosevelt)
