Sally introduced the Guest Speaker -  Heidi Griffin from the Gover Street Gallery, a non- profit community gallery.

Heidi gave us a fascinating glimpse into the history of the Gallery over the last few years to where it stands today as not only a place to see exhibitions of the work of many Taranaki artists but also a combination of working studios and workshop area.
Several groups use the spaces on a regular basis for various activities including sketching and portrait drawing. Exhibitions range from paintings to sculpture and furniture plus small items such as jewellery and glass work.
The Gallery is much respected and well patronised but like all such enterprises, funding is not easy to find. There is an element of uncertainty regarding the current premises as well but Heidi is determined to persevere.

As well as running the Gallery ,Heidi is a talented artist in her own right and shared some of her own journey with us, including showing us her current sketch books. She is planning to give herself more time for her own works.

The Gallery host a charity auction every year, with the next one happening very soon.

Jan D thanked Heidi on our behalf.

Next meeting is on 28 April - Business Meeting format with the Plaque Project and Raffle on the Agenda.
