The highlight of the Business Meeting on 22 September was the induction of our newest Honorary Member Bryan Vickery.

Bryan has been a friend of the Club for many years and has always given us expert advice and aid freely. Though we are not alone in benefiting from Bryan’s expertise -   the generosity of spirit with which he helps so many people in the community is a practical example of the ideals of Rotary. We are particularly grateful for his input and dedicated help this year when he has proved invaluable in helping with our Centenary Celebrations and our part of Destination Kawaroa. Both sides look forward to continuing our association as we aim to grow the Club in the next couple of years of years.

The other important part of the meeting was the Club’s formal adoption of the new Standard Constitution. President Murray moved and Treasurer Des seconded that the Club adopt  the new Constitution and reincorporate under the new Act with the aim to grow the Club. Passed unanimously.

President Murray emphasised the need to grow the Club using each type of membership and also suggested approaching former members. He reminded members that the AGM is on 20 October and we need to give thought to incoming office bearers and executives. He pointed out that out that he himself will not be eligible for reelection.  Gaylene and Jan N made the point that in their previous clubs, the presidency has been shared ( in one case by four members in rotation ) for a year and the set up had worked well.
